Styrotech Helps Lafarge Win New Accounts With Their Roof Tile Innovation!

Case Study Overview:

The head designer at Lafarge Roofing Technical Centre wanted to show their new design of roof tile, at a large seminar convention of their major distributors and prospective buyers. However, they didn't want to manufacture the tiles until they gained the general approval of their potential customers. To aid the process they needed the tiles to be as accurate and realistic as possible. Therefore, they approached Styrotech and asked them if they could reproduce a proto-type roof tile in polystyrene. Recreating the shape of a tile proved quite a challenge.

The essence of this project was getting the curvature and thickness consistent.

The Styrotech Solution:

Styrotech designed and developed a cheaper alternative using polystyrene, which matched exactly the original tile design drawings. This proved to be most effective and saved Lafarge a great deal of production costs, since they didn't need to produce an actual physical real title. The reproduction of these polystyrene tiles allowed them to show samples and examples of what they can do, and how they would work.

The Outcome:

Styrotech helped Lafarge convert prospective buyers and win orders from existing distributors who went on to approve their new innovative tile design.
